Boston SMFA at Tufts campus

For your personal safety, all SMFA at Tufts students are encouraged to utilize the SafeRide service as an alternative to walking alone during the off hours of the Shuttles. Vehicle transports are available via Lyft.

How to Request a Lyft Ride

  • Download Lyft’s mobile app (via Google Play or App Store)
  • Enter your Tufts email address
  • Enter profile settings and credit card information*, which is required to download the application

You will receive an email from Lyft inviting you to the Tufts SafeRide program and asking you to verify your email

  • For individuals who already use the Lyft app and may have created a Business Profile, please ensure you are in “Personal” mode and not “Business” mode to use the Tufts SafeRide program
  • *Lyft rides will automatically be paid for by the Tufts SafeRide program so long as you are in “Personal” mode and your ride fits the policy criteria listed below:

Policies for using the Lyft App

If rides do not comply with the policies below, the individual will be charged for the service

  • Must be an SMFA undergraduate or graduate student
  • Must request a ride between the hours of 10:00 pm – 7:30 am
  • Rides must be to or from the buildings at 230 Fenway or 160 Saint Alphonsus St, and Beacon Street Resident Hall.
  • Rides (pickup and drop off) must be within a 1.25 miles radius of 230 Fenway
  • SMFA Students living on the Medford Campus needing transportation back to their residence hall from the 230 Fenway Building, 160 St. Alphonsus St., or 1025 Beacon St. residences after 10:30 PM may call public safety for a one-time Lyft code allowing for Saferides beyond the SMFA 1.25 mile radius.
  • SMFA Students living at the 1025 Beacon residence halls needing transportation back to Beacon Street from the Medford campus after 10:00 PM may call public safety for a one-time Lyft code allowing for Saferides beyond the SMFA 1.25 Mile radius.
