Be Attentive with Kitchen Appliances
The Department of Public Safety and Fire Safety remind all members of the Tufts community to be mindful and attentive when using kitchen appliances. During Memorial Day Weekend, a kitchen fire was accidentally started on the Boston Health Sciences campus when a toaster oven was left on, causing the toaster on top of it to melt and subsequently catch fire.
Although kitchen appliances and devices are safe and reliable, it's important to remain attentive while using them. The toaster oven was left on to heat food for an extended period, but was never turned off after use. As a reminder, all kitchen devices should be turned OFF when not in use to avoid accidents or dangerous situations.
