At about 8:20 PM, this evening, 05/14/19, a Tufts University student reported to the Medford and Tufts University Police Departments that a person she described as a white male, wearing a dark colored hooded sweatshirt and jeans assaulted her in the area of Adams Street, Medford. The suspect approached her from behind and grabbed her around the waist. The victim broke free and fled. The victim reports that she was not physically injured.

A search of the area by the Medford and Tufts University Police Departments did not turn up a suspect. The incident remains under investigation and TUPD will continue with enhanced patrols in the area.

Tufts University deplores and condemns such acts, and victims/survivors of crimes are never at fault for crimes that happen to them. Those who commit such crimes are fully responsible for those acts.

  • Program the Tufts Police number into your cell phone so you will be prepared in an emergency (617-627-6911).
  • Report any suspicious persons or circumstances to Tufts Police immediately at 617-627-6911 or x66911 from an on-campus phone or dial 911 for off campus emergencies.
