On Sunday 4/2/17 at about 1:54 a.m., a Tufts student called TUPD and reported that about 20 minutes earlier two males had attempted to take his backpack while walking on Warner St. by Pearson Rd. in Somerville. The victim stated that two males approached him from behind and one of the males grabbed and pulled at his backpack strap along his left shoulder. The victim freed himself and was then grabbed by the other male, who said “you’re ok, you’re ok.” At that point the victim ran away, across Warner St. toward a group of people he saw walking, and then ran home.
The suspects were described as two males, ages in their middle 20’s, possibly Hispanic, both about five feet, five inches tall, both wearing hooded sweatshirts, one red in color, with both suspects wearing jackets over their sweatshirts. A search of the area was conducted by Tufts, Somerville and Medford Police without success.
