Dear members of the Tufts community:

Early Saturday morning at about 3:55 a.m. a student residing in Wren Hall awoke and found an unknown male in her room rubbing her arm. She called TUPD, which responded immediately and checked the surrounding area in search of a suspect. The suspect was described by the victim as a white or Hispanic male, approximately 5 feet, 8 inches to 6 feet tall with short black hair and wearing a dark shirt. The suspect was not located and TUPD is actively investigating this incident.  Anyone with information to share about this or similar incidents should contact TUPD at 617-627-3030.

Tufts University deplores and condemns such acts, and victims/survivors of crimes are never at fault for crimes that happen to them.  Those who commit such crimes are fully responsible for those acts.  With that in mind, the following information is provided to help and support you:

TUPD and Residential Life would like to remind all residents to keep their living quarters secured at all times while sleeping and when leaving living quarters unattended.

Program the Tufts Police phone number into your cell phone so you will be prepared in an emergency – 617-627-6911.

In addition, please contact TUPD:

  1. In the event that you observe anyone believed to be a non-resident attempting to gain access into a residence hall without a host
  2. In the event that you observe anyone within the common areas of residence halls who appears not to belong to the residence hall community and who is unaccompanied by a residence hall host
