On Wednesday March 16, the Tufts University Police Department (TUPD) learned from the Medford Police Department that Medford Police responded to an unarmed robbery on Hillsdale Road at approximately 8:15 p.m.
The victim, a Tufts student, reported that two males followed him and stopped him outside his residence. The males demanded the victim’s backpack and removed a MacBook Air laptop and an iPhone 6. The victim was not physically injured. Medford Police conducted a search of the area with negative results.
The victim described the suspects as Black males, one approximately 6 feet 2 inches tall and wearing a black, hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans, and the other approximately 5 feet 2 inches tall, also wearing a black, hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans.
While those who commit such crimes are fully responsible for those acts, TUPD recommends the following risk reduction and safety precautions:
* Remain alert and observe people around you.
* Report any suspicious persons or circumstances to Tufts Police immediately at x66911 (617-627-6911 from off-campus or a cell phone) or dial 911 for the local police.
* Utilize the SafeRide service by calling Tufts Police at x73030 (617-627-3030 from off-campus or cell phone).
