Campus Security Officers (CSOs)
CSOs are full/part-time non-sworn security officers. Their primary responsibilities include foot patrol in designated areas using an electronic watchtour system, checking buildings for propped doors and open windows, providing escort/lockout services to students as well as testing security/panic alarms and emergency phones. They are another set of “eyes and ears” for the police officers. The part-time Campus Security Officers may be both students and non-students working primarily evening hours.
Contract Security Officers
Contract security officers are non-sworn security personnel who are used primarily at interior fixed positions at various buildings on campus. Contract security officers work for a private security firm contracted by the university to provide such services.
