Wanted for Incident on March 28, 2009

On 3/28/09 Tufts University Police recieved a report of a breaking and entering.  The incident occurred around 9:30 p.m. on Whitfield Road in Somerville Ma.  The suspect entered the house through an unlocked rear bedroom window on the 1st floor.  The suspect attempted to take a backpack and laptop, but left the items when confronted by a resident.  The resident was not injured.  The victim stated the suspect fled out the front door and got into the passenger side of a white or light grey F-250 style pick-up truck with ladder racks, a single orange light on the cab and a silver "Job box" style tool box in the truck bed, behind the cab.

The victim described the suspect as follows:

  • A white male with short gray curly hair, clean shaven
  • Approximately 5'10" tall, about 50 years old
  • Wearing a dark windbreaker and a dark baseball cap

A police sketch artist worked with the victim to create the following sketch of the suspect. The suspect appears to be different from the suspect in the incident at 14 Sawyer Ave on April 10, 2009.

  • Secure all entrances into your home or apartment, this includes doors, windows and bulkheads.

Blue Light Phones

The blue-light telephone network exists for your safety and convenience. The phone locations are marked by a blue light above the phone. The phone is typically located in a grey, weatherproof box. In an emergency press the red button to automatically dial the University Police.

As you travel campus, be aware of the location of the nearest blue-light phone, should you need to use it in an emergency.
