Timely Warning – Breaking & Entering on College Avenue, Somerville

On Friday, December 16, 2016 at approximately 11:20 pm the Tufts University Police received a call of a breaking and entering at a house on College Avenue in Somerville, Ma. The resident, a Tufts student, encountered a male on the third floor of their house. The suspect entered through a third floor unlocked window off the rear deck.

The suspect ran from the house out the rear third floor door. The suspect did not appear to be armed. No one in the house was physically injured.

An area search for the suspect was conducted by Tufts University and Somerville Police. The suspect was not located. Tufts University Police and the Somerville Police are actively investigating this incident and have increased patrols in the area.

The victim described the suspect as follows:

A black male, approximately 25 years old, approximately 6 feet tall, dressed in all black clothing, with dreadlocks hair style.

While victims of crime are never to blame for criminal activity, there are some precautions that can be taken.

Precautions:

* Always secure and lock your residence windows & doors and leave a lights on at your front and back porches.
