Automatic Fire Sprinkler Systems are installed in all of the University’s student residential housing. The systems are maintained, inspected and tested on a quarterly schedule in accordance with NFPA 25 standards. All of the resident’s rooms, common areas, storage, utility and attic spaces are protected by sprinkler heads, that when activated, will control the spread of the fire. A sprinkler head will activate when the temperature at the head reaches 155° initiating the flow of water. Only that head which has activated will flow water. Additional heads will only activate when the temperature reaches 155°. Obstructions to the sprinkler heads such as tapestry or cloth type items attached to the ceiling are prohibited. Nothing is allowed to be hung from the sprinkler head or the sprinkler piping
