Automated External Defibrillation

[EKG strip]On March 23, 1998 Tufts Emergency Medical Services entered a new era of service with the implementation of an enhanced basic life support defibrillation program. With the addition of a automated external defibrillator (AED) TEMS gained the ability to provide a life saving treatment to victims of cardiac arrest. To provide early defibrillation TEMS selected a state-of-the-art AED manufactured by Medtronic Physio-Control Corporation. The LIFEPAK 500 AED provides us with a compact, light, durable, highly portable, and nearly maintenance-free unit that we can rapidly deploy during cardiac arrest emergencies.
