This training is required by DOT regulation for anyone who packages, or signs shipping papers for Regulated Medical Waste. This training will cover how to properly segregate and handle waste, the components that go into labeling and documentation of Regulated Medical Waste, as well as the DOT requirements and information on state regulations as they pertain to Regulated Medical Waste. This training must be renewed every three years, or if regulations/procedures change.
Offer medical waste for transport from TU campus locations
Sign the manifest (Stericycle paperwork)
Pack the sharps and/or red bag waste containers
Or load, unload, or handle medical waste
Then you must complete this course and pass the quiz. A passing score of 80% or higher on the quiz is necessary to receive a Certificate of Training. Retain the certificate in your lab file. You may be asked to present proof of training (certificate). This course meets DOT training requirements for persons who offer medical waste to a contractor for transport and disposal.
