Radiation Safety Training

Introduction to Radiation Safety Training

The two hour introductory training is required for all members working in a Registered Radioactive Materials laboratory.  During the final 15 minutes of the session, participants complete a written examination (quiz) that will be reviewed in class.  The topics covered include:

  • Regulatory review
  • Radiological handling techniques
  • Radiation Safety philosophy
  • Administrative & engineering controls
  • Personal protective equipment
  • Radiological instrumentation
  • Radiation Safety monitoring and surveillance
  • Waste Minimization strategies and guidelines

Tufts EHS offers this training on all three campuses throughout the year as a service to our employees.  We encourage you to identify any of your department staff that may need this training and see to it that they attend an upcoming session.

Class size is limited and certificates of attendance will be provided at the end of each session; Registration is required. Please contact TEHS (ehs-training@tufts.edu) to reserve your spot.
